NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER FOR UKRAINE

Every Christian who cares about the fate of Ukraine prays for its peace and well-being every day.
It is extremely important to unite in such a prayer, which is why a general national prayer is held in Ukraine
every year at the beginning of June.
Intercessory prayer for Ukraine unites millions of believers in Ukraine and around the world.
Such prayer unity of churches of different denominations is a unique experience of Ukraine, unprecedented
in world practice.

The idea of convening the National Day of Prayer for Ukraine was proposed by an international evangelist
from Great Britain – David Hathaway. David devoted many years to serving Ukraine, so he called on Ukrainians
to unite in prayer so that God would change the situation in Ukraine for the better.

Therefore, from year to year, starting from 2016, Christians turn to God for the most painful and most significant:

GOD’S PROTECTION and help to all military personnel, medics, chaplains and volunteers;
GOD’S PROTECTION of the civilian population in times of full-scale war;
REVIVAL of Ukraine and the spiritual awakening of our people;
PEACE AND RESTORATION of territorial integrity of Ukraine;
PURIFICATION from corruption and immorality;
BLESSING of Ukrainian children, teenagers and youth;
GOD’S COMPLETE VICTORY IN UKRAINE.

The Bible narrates many dramatic events when God protected and blessed His people, answering
a fervent prayer of submission and repentance:
“if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face
and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive
their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14).

We are prayerfully responsible for the present and future of our people.
THEREFORE LET’S CONTINUE TO PRAY DAILY FOR UKRAINE!

On February 20, 2022, the Prayer of Unity for Peace in Ukraine took place in Kyiv

20.02.2022

Prayer for Ukraine takes place annually in early summer. But the situation on Ukraine's borders has prompted an emergency meeting for many churches to unite in prayer for peace in Ukraine. On February 20, 2022, several hundred believers gathered at the Grace Church and several thousand more joined in online prayer. Anatoliy Kozachok reminded of Jesus' prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane. The Lord Himself called us to pray even in the face of danger. The initiator and patron of the National Day of Prayer for Ukraine, British evangelist David Hathaway, flew to Kyiv specifically to join Ukrainian priests and express his support for Ukraine from Britain. Bishop Anatoliy Kalyuzhny addressed the audience very openly with the question - "how long have you been praying for Ukraine for tears"? Pastor Oleksandr Zaitsev from Donetsk said that unlike others who pray that nothing happens, believers in the occupied territories pray that something has already happened. May the Lord intervene and start doing something. In his closing remarks, David Hathaway cited the example of Gideon, when 300 soldiers defeated an army because the Lord was with them. So David called to pray that the Lord would embarrass the enemy. To be saved, instead of being killed on the battlefield. At the end, everyone sang the anthem "God is great, save Ukraine for us". And all the bishops gave a pastoral blessing to all participants in the prayer. Keep praying for peace in Ukraine.

The seventh National Day of Prayer for Ukraine will take place on June 11, 2022!

Within the walls of the Ukrainian House of the Bible, at a joint meeting of the Heads of Ukrainian Churches, the stages of preparation were analyzed and the importance of holding an interconfessional prayer event next year was emphasized.

  The director of the DOP ministry, Vadym Preobrazhensky, addressed the church leaders with the words used by King George VI of Great Britain in his Christmas address to the nation in 1939:

And I said to the man who stood at the gate of the year:

‘Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown.’

And he replied:

‘Go out into the darkness and put your hand into the Hand of God. That shall be to you better than light and safer than a known way.’

27 May 2017 National Day of Prayer for Ukraine official press release

07.02.2017

When Jesus created the Church, He gave her the power and authority of his name to make requests in prayer to Almighty God, the Creator and King of the Universe. “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” (John 14:13) Prayer is a gracious gift and a privilege given by God. The prayer of faith is a powerful spiritual weapon able to destroy the works of Satan and change the course of history. Unity of prayer is of great strength, as the Bible and the history of mankind clearly show! Today, in a time of great political and socio-economic difficulties, God gives the Church and the people of Ukraine a unique chance to witness the power of united prayer of faith to God. The state of total despair in the people, the corruption and incompetence of the Ukrainian authorities, frustrated relations with Western partners and the exhausting war in the east are a great opportunity to demonstrate the greatness and omnipotence of our God, who only can save and raise up our country. That is why the Spirit of God urges his people not to lose faith and perseverance and to meet together again on the prayer mountain to light a fire on the altar of zealous prayer for Ukraine. The Lord calls us to put on the whole armour of God and stand side-by-side in prayerful intercession for our native land! The goal of the National Day of Prayer for Ukraine is the prayer of unity of all churches and all people for the salvation and revival of our country. We wholeheartedly believe that God will hear our humble prayer and grant peace and prosperity to our long-suffering Ukrainian land. “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14) The organising committee of the National Day of Prayer for Ukraine developed the rules of prayer and formal Declaration which enshrine the main goals and direction of our prayer requests. The following have already joined in the preparation and carrying out of the National Day of Prayer for Ukraine: - Church of Evangelical Christians in Ukraine - All-Ukrainian Union of Evangelical Christians-Baptists - Ukrainian Union Conference of Seventh-Day Adventist - Ukrainian Bible Society - Union of Free Churches of Christians of Evangelical Faith of Ukraine - Brotherhood of Independent Churches and Missions of Evangelical Christians-Baptists - Association of Missionary Churches of Evangelical Christians of Ukraine - Centre for Independent Charismatic Christian Churches of Ukraine (Full Gospel) - Council of Independent Evangelical Churches of Ukraine - Association of Christians of Evangelical Faith "Salvation" - Kiev Jewish Messianic Community - Association of Christians of Evangelical Faith "Ukrainian Missionary Church" - Union "Ukraine Church of God" - Centre of Evangelical Christian Churches of Ukraine "Victory" - The Union of Evangelical Churches "Association" Good News "in Ukraine" - Ukrainian Christian Church "New Generation" - United Christian Evangelical Church of the Living God in Ukraine - Spiritual Administration of Christian Churches "Kingdom of God" in Ukraine - Commonwealth Churches and Missions "Ukrainian Christian Assembly" - International Ministry "God Seekers Movement".
